NEW DELHI: Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau showered his wrath again on India accusing the country of not cooperating with the investigation into the murder of Hardeep Singh Nijjar. Canada had earlier accused sleighthand of Indian agencies behind Nijjar's murder.
“Nijjar's murder is a serious issue and we want constructive cooperation with India in this regard. There are serious reasons behind Canada's allegation that Indian agencies were involved in the killing of a Canadian citizen. But India responded by expelling 40 Canadian diplomats showing pure diplomatic impunity. With this, India violated the Vienna Convention” Justin Trudeau responded.
Trudeau also raised concern about the security of Canadian diplomats in India saying they were "stripped of protection" by the Indian government. "The world will be a dangerous place for everyone If bigger countries violate international laws without thinking about the consequences” Trudeau mentioned in his attack on India.
Trudeau assured that Canada will work closely with Indian diplomats and said the country is not keen on a fight now considering the present world status.
The diplomatic niceties between Canada and India entered testy waters after the murder of Khalistani extremist Hardeep Singh Nijjar. External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar has repeatedly asked Canada to publicize the evidence regarding the shallow claim about India’s involvement in the killing. However, Canada has followed a stoic silence on the matter but is keen on conducting sly verbal attacks against India on international podiums.
