THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In the first half of the Northeast monsoon this year, the state received 17 percent more rain. Last time it was three percent less. According to weather forecasters, there will be more than average rainfall this time.

Cyclones Thej and Hamun in the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal and frequent cyclones added to the rain. Although cyclones did not have much impact, the strengthening of cyclonic circulation and strengthening of easterly winds also contributed to increased rainfall. In 2021, 109% more Northeast monsoon rain was received. There was a 26% decrease in 2020 and 27% increase in 2019.
