ALAPPUZHA: The death of Bhaskaran (74), considered an unnatural death by the locals and relatives, has been proved to be a murder. Bhaskaran, a native of Ochira, was living with a woman in Parangodi Colony for a year. The woman's son Mandeep (Raja 24) was arrested by Kurattikkadu police in connection with the incident.
Raja brutally attacked Bhaskaran on October 15 at the woman's house. He beat him cruelly, kicked and even hit his head against the wall. The woman admitted Bhaskaran, who developed uneasiness at Alappuzha Medical College Hospital the next evening saying that he had fallen from a tree.
Bhaskaran died while undergoing treatment. The woman later went to the station and gave her statement. However, the Kurattikkadu police, sensing a contradiction in the statement, took the statement of the doctor who conducted the post-mortem and investigated the incident in detail. Meanwhile, Mandeep went into hiding. He was later caught from Mannanmoola in Peroorkada. The accused confessed to the crime during interrogation.
