KILIMANOOR: The Kilimanoor police arrested a person for smuggling 35 liters of Indian-made foreign liquor in a two-wheeler. The arrested is Nazarudeen (50), a native of Attingal Ayilam. The incident happened at Thattathumala on M C Road at around 5 pm Sunday evening.
The car carrying Ayyappa devotees was returning to Thiruvananthapuram after Sabarimala darshan. They stopped their vehicle on the way and while resting, a two-wheeler going to Kilimanoor from Chadayamangalam hit behind their vehicle. Immediately liquor bottles fell on the road from the two-wheeler. The passengers of the car stopped him and informed the police.
The police arrived at the spot and seized the illegally smuggled liquor. He was trying to smuggle 67 bottles of liquor hidden in three bags. The police said the accused was in the gangster list of the Attingal police station and accused in several theft and robbery cases. He was arrested by a team led by Kilimanoor circle inspector B Jayan and consisting of sub inspectors Vijith K Nair, Raji Krishna etc. The accused produced in the Attingal court has been remanded.
