KOZHIKODE: A man named Samad(52) was arrested for kidnapping and brutally killing a housewife in Malappuram’s Tanur region on Monday. Kozhikode Kuttikattur native Zainaba (52) was murdered by her friend Samad and was thrown into a hook.
The dead remains of Zainaba were found from a hook near Nadukani pass. Co-accused Sulaiman, a native of Gudalur, is absconding. On the 8th of November, Zaniaba’s husband Muhamad Ali lodged a complaint with Kasaba police about the missing of his wife.
Muhamad Ali, a security guard, noticed Zainaba's missing when he came home from night duty on November 7th. Cyber police later tracked her phone records and got the name Samad from it. Very soon, Samad was taken into custody on November 12th from Malappuram and was interrogated thoroughly. During the session, he testified about committing the murder along with a friend named Sulaiman to get hold of gold and money. Samad and Zainaba had known each other for years.
Zainaba was asked to reach Tanur on November 7th. She was picked up by the gang from Kozhikode's new bus stand area and was offered Rs 10,000. When the vehicle got near Mukkam, Samad and Sulaiman lassoed her neck with a shawl, killing her inside the vehicle. The jewellery she wore and the money in the bag was seized. Around 8 pm that night, the gang threw her body into a hook near the Nadukani pass.
The two later headed straight to Sulaiman’s room in Gudalur. The money was shared at 8 am the next morning and Sulaiman gave the car to the nearest service station for a routine checkup. The gang also planned to burn Samad’s blood-stained dhoti and Zainaba’s bag that had her phone. Meanwhile, Sulaiman came up with another friend and took away all possession of gold and eloped. According to her husband, Zainaba had with her 17 sovereign gold and Rs 3 lakh money. The couple have been saving this money for their grandchild's wedding.
