MALAPPURAM: The RPF has intensified its search for the old man who crossed the tracks in front of the speeding Vande Bharat Express. The incident took place yesterday around 5 pm at Tirur railway station where Vande Bharat has no stop. Vande Bharat arrived while the old man was crossing the railway tracks to the third platform on the market side.

Although the loco pilot sounded the siren without stopping the train, the old man still crossed the tracks thinking it was a normal train. By the time the train had closed in, he had climbed onto the platform. The train passed the old man head-on. The video of the incident had gone viral on social media. It was after this that the RPF started an investigation.

RPF has also sought the help of the local police to identify the old man. The investigation is going on focusing on the CCTV footage of the railway station. It is assumed that the old man is a native of Ottapalam. RPF has collected the CCTV footage and is conducting a detailed investigation.
