IDUKKI: With the number of online financial frauds increasing day by day, the Kerala police are launching a new project to spread cyber security awareness to the public. The project will be implemented by deputing cyber volunteers at the police station level to educate the public about cyber criminals and precautions to avoid falling into the temptations of fraudsters.
There will be no remuneration for working as a cyber volunteer. After training the selected volunteers, their services will be used to spread cyber security awareness among school and college students and the general public. Special further training will also be provided where necessary on new scams by cybercriminals across the country.
DySPs of the District Crime Records Bureau will be the nodal officers of the project and the station house officers of the cyber police station will be the assistant nodal officers.
Cyber Awareness Promoter appointment
Those interested can apply for an appointment as a cyber volunteer through the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal, cybercrime.gov.in. They can by clicking on the 'Registration as a Volunteer' link in the Cyber Volunteer section of this website. Apply under the 'Cyber Awareness Promoter' category. The last date for submission of the application is November 25. Interested candidates should also submit their photo, identity proof, resume, proof of educational qualification etc.
