MUMBAI: Team India has won a record nine matches in the World Cup tournament this year and is near to their perfect form as they face New Zealand at Wankhede Stadium on November 15th. This time, it is a good chance to make up for the disappointment suffered when Indian captain Dhoni was run out by Martin Guptill's throw in the 2019 World Cup.
According to former Indian coach and commentator Ravi Shastri, the present situation is conducive for India to lift the World Cup. Shastri said if not now, then India will have to wait for at least three world cups to aim for the trophy.
Speaking to a podcast channel, Ravi Shastri said, "India won the World Cup 12 years ago. There is a chance to repeat it. The way they are playing, maybe this is their best chance, but if they don't win this time they will have to wait for at least three World Cups. Almost 8 to 9 players in the current squad are in the final phase of their careers. They’re in peak form now and they should win at all cost. ”
Ravi Shastri heaped praise on India’s bowling prowess and said it was not an overnight phenomenon. “It took nearly four to five years to shipshape the bowling attack and make a steady lineup to frighten the opposition. The latest to join the squad was Siraj just three years ago.”
Ravi Shastri’s revelation came in a podcast discussion with former Aussie player Adam Gilchrist and former England captain Michael Vaughan.
