KOZHIKODE: The investigation team will file an application tomorrow to get the accused Samad in custody in the murder of Kuttikattoor native Zainaba. Gold ornaments and money worn by Zainaba are yet to be found. The police intensified the search for the co-accused Gudalur native Sulaiman. Zainaba had around 17 sovereign worth of jewels on her body and around three lakhs in cash in her bag. Samad and Sulaiman committed the murder with the aim of taking possession of these.
The investigation team has given a custody application for further interrogation of Samad, who is in remand. The gold and money should be found. After the murder, the accused went straight to Sulaiman's residence in Gudalur. Samad's statement is that the blood-stained mundu and banyan were destroyed over there.
The two divided the money in Zainaba's bag after suffocating Zainaba by tying a shawl around her neck and throwing her down the hill at Nadukani Pass in Malappuram.
