After the court pronounced its verdict on Aluva child murder case, many came forward with their opinions. Now, actor Harish Peradi has revealed his dream verdict for Ashfaq Alam, the lone accused, who was sentenced to death.
"After the formation of the state, there have been 26 hangings in Kerala. It is known that since the execution of Ripper Chandran in 1991, the death penalty has not been carried out in Kerala for 32 years. But in three jails in Kerala, Poojapura, Viyyur and Kannur, 16 people have been in comfort for years awaiting death penalty. The current reality is that those accused will live for many more years...then I don't know why there is such a verdict and a dispute in its name", Harish Peradi's Facebook post reads.
"..now the verdict of my dream..the rapist who killed the five-year-old girl should have his genitals removed in the presence of eminent doctors..then he should be locked in a cell alone with adult movies playing on a screen, he will die of cardiac arrest in two days", the actor wrote in his post.
"...This is also an opportunity for the intellectuals who oppose the death penalty to express their condolences.", he added.
Ernakulam Pocso Court Judge K Soman sentenced accused Ashfaq Alam to death by hanging. Five life terms, 49 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 7.20 lakh were also imposed. Judge K Soman specifically mentioned in the judgment that the accused should spend the rest of his life in prison and that this is a rare case.
