MUMBAI: Indian batsman Virat Kohli knocked a masterclass 117 runs to become the first in cricket history to have the most centuries in the ODI format. A choc full Wankhede Stadium rose in unison and applauded Kohli for his record-breaking knock, that too in front of local hero, legend Sachin Tendulkar. The 35-year-old Kohli after breaking Sachin’s record of 49 centuries, did a fist pump and later knelt down in amazement. In a stunning gesture, he bowed down to Sachin Tendulkar who was at the pavilion watching the match unfold.

Football icon David Beckham was also in the stands and was in awe of Kohli’s classic knock. Kohli completed his century in 106 balls which helped the team reach a massive total of 397 runs. Shreyas Iyer also reached his second century in consecutive matches.

Virat Kohli’s wife Anushka Sharma was ecstatic over the record-breaking century and passed many flying kisses from the stands. Meanwhile, New Zealand will have to surmount a massive total in the big stage of the semifinals and that too at a most heated stadium in Mumbai. The second inning is about to begin.
