PALAKKAD: An elderly man, who was resting after heart surgery, and his wife were found dead at their home. The deceased are Palakkad Kadamkode native Appunni (67) and his wife Yashoda (62). The police took the couple's son A Anoop into custody on the complaint of their relatives. The police said that Anoop was an accused in many drug cases.

The elderly couple were found beaten up at around noon the other day. Appunni was brought home the other day after heart surgery. When the neighbours came to see him, they saw him lying on the floor. They also saw Anoop beating Yashoda. When the relatives and neighbours intervened, Anoop attacked them as well. Although Appunni and Yashoda were soon rushed to the hospital, their lives could not be saved. Following this, the police arrested the son.
