NEW DELHI: The Yemen Supreme Court rejected the appeal filed by Nimisha Priya against death penalty. The Centre informed this to the Delhi High Court. The appeal was rejected on November 13. The Centre informed the court that only the Yemen president can now relax her punishment.

The Centre informed all this when Nimisha Priya’s mother’s plea sought permission to go to Yemen for her daughter’s release. The court directed to take a decision in a week on her mother’s plea. The Centre vocally informed the Delhi High Court that they are not against if she goes to Yemen on her own responsibility. The high court also directed to inform the Centre in two days the details of those accompanying her to Yemen.

Meantime, her mother responded that rejecting her appeal was unexpected. She said that she firmly believes that she will be able to see her. Death penalty was awarded to Nimisha Priya for killing Yemen citizen Talal Abdo Mahdi. She injected him with sedatives to get her passport that was in his possession.

Nimisha of Palakkad Kollengode is in the jail in Sana.
