NEW DELHI: Sri Lankan cricket star Sanath Jayasuriya has expressed his support for Pakistan cricket coach Waqar Younis' proposal regarding the alteration of norms in One Day International (ODI) matches. Younis has urged the International Cricket Council (ICC) to consider implementing changes that involve using two balls during an ODI innings. He highlighted that the current rules heavily favour the batsmen and suggested using two balls in a game, one to start and another to be introduced after 30 overs.
ODI cricket is too friendly for batters Suggestion @ICC 2 new balls to start, take away 1 ball after 30 overs, continue with the other. At the end that ball will only be 35 overs old. We’ll see some reverse at the end. Save the art of #ReverseSwing Comments please. pic.twitter.com/TQs5EZJy9Y

Jayasuriya echoed Waqar's sentiments on social media and also referenced cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar in his statement. He concurred with Waqar's proposal suggesting that if such regulations had been in place during their playing careers, Sachin's runs and centuries would have potentially doubled.
Notably, Sachin Tendulkar achieved a monumental feat of scoring 100 centuries in his cricket career with 51 centuries in Test matches and 49 centuries in ODIs.
