PATHANAMTHITTA: Sabarimala temple has been opened for the Makaravilakku pilgrimage. The door of the sanctum sanctorum was opened under the leadership of Tantri Kantararu Mahesh Mohanararu. The new chief priests (melshanthi) will take over tomorrow. The government informed that all preparations are complete.
On Friday at 3:30 am, the new melshanthis will open the doors. Mandalakala pujas will start from tomorrow. As of today, Sannidhanam is crowded with devotees. Meanwhile, Devaswom Board President PS Prashanth said that basic facilities have been provided for the pilgrims. "FASTag system has been introduced for toll collection at Nilakkal. The construction of the queue complex from Marakkoottam to Saramkuthi is in final stage. The Sabaripeeth has a mobile charging facility. Congestion can be controlled through Sannidhanam dynamic queue control. Nilakkal has 952 toilets including container toilets. There are toilets in Pampa and Sannidhanam which can be used by women, children and differently able.", he said.
