THRISSUR: According to the forensic report, eight-year-old Adithyashree's death in Thiruvilwamala in Thrissur was not due to a phone blast. The result of the chemical test indicates that the cause of death was the explosion of 'pig' crackers. The incident happened on April 26, 2023. Forensic experts have found the presence of potassium chlorate and sulphur in the child's body. It is suspected that she may have bitten the crackers found in the field. Based on the results of the forensic examination, an investigation has been launched under the leadership of Kunnamkulam ACP CR Santhosh.
The family had said that the child was watching a video on a mobile when it exploded. The grandmother's statement was that the child was lying under the blanket and playing games on her phone. At this time only grandmother and Adithyashree were at home. Adityashree was a third-class student of Christ New Life School in Thiruvilvamala. His father, Ashok Kumar, was a member of Pazhayannur Block Panchayat. Neighbours confirmed hearing explosion sounds from the house.
The doctor who conducted the post-mortem had doubted the child's cause of death. The forensic surgeon informed the police that the injuries on the child's body were not caused by the explosion of the phone. Following this, the remains of the phone and parts of the bed were then sent for chemical testing, which revealed the presence of potassium chlorate and sulphur.
