THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Former minister and CPM MLA Dr KT Jaleel alleged that while the Lokayukta's verdict regarding the Chief Minister's relief fund utilization was fair, the verdict in the case that led to his resignation as minister was the result of a conspiracy. Appearing on Kaumudy TV's weekly interview program Straight Line, Jaleel made a serious allegation that the Lokayukta was involved in that conspiracy.

"The Lokayukta passed an arbitrary judgment against me without sending a notice or holding a hearing. No court in the world would do such a thing. The Lokayukta did that by misusing Article 14. Those who thought that the Lokayukta would issue a similar judgment this time have become disappointed now," he said.

Jaleel also said that some leaders of the Muslim League and some religious leaders of the Christian Church were involved in the conspiracy against him. In the interview, Jaleel alleged that a top leader of the Muslim League had received help from the present Lokayukta in settling a case against him and in return, a relative of the Lokayukta was appointed as the head of MG University.

"When I spoke to the then Education Minister ET Muhammad Basheer about extending one more term to the expiring VC, he told me to go and see KM Mani. It was KM Mani who told me that a university post would have to be given as a reward for settling the case against the Muslim League leader," Jaleel said.
