KOCHI: Priya Ranjan, a native of Thiruvananthapuram, who sought bail in case accusing him of killing class 10 student Adishekhar in Kattakkada, has withdrawn his bail application in the High Court. The court clarified that there are extremely serious allegations against the accused and the bail application can be considered only after the investigation and the High Court will have to reject the application. The petitioner then sought permission to withdraw the bail plea, which was granted by Justice P Gopinath.

According to the case, Adishekhar had questioned Priyaranjan's urinating on the wall of a Bhadrakali Temple in Poovachal's Pulingode. On August 30, accused killed Adishekhar by running him over with his car to exact revenge while the was getting on his bicycle. CCTV visuals show the coming from behind, hitting the boy and driving away without stopping.

In the bail application, the police case diary and CCTV footage were produced in the High Court. After checking these, the High Court said that bail cannot be granted. Priyaranjan's petition says that his wife is working abroad and he was talking to her on the phone as the car hit the bicycle. He added that he had a lack of experience as it was a new electric car. The accused argued in the petition that the charge of murder would not stand against him. The accused was arrested on September 12.
