PALAKKAD: The family of tribal youth Madhu is planning to approach the Supreme Court against the order issued by the High Court freezing the execution of the jail term awarded to the first accused in the Madhu lynching case. Madhu's mother said that she would approach the Supreme Court and go to any extent to get justice. Madhu's sister alleged that her brother died as a result of the blow he received from Hussain, the first accused in the case.
The High Court had granted bail to Hussain and stayed the execution of his sentence after considering Hussain's lawyer's contention that he was not involved in the gang assault. It granted him bail on a bond of Rs 1 lakh and two sureties of equal amount. The court, however, rejected the pleas filed by the other 12 accused in the case.
The pleas were considered by the division bench comprising Justice PB Suresh Kumar and Justice PG Ajith Kumar. The tribal youth named Madhu was allegedly beaten to death by a mob at Attappady in Palakkad district on February 22, 2018. He was allegedly tied up and beaten by a mob, who caught him from a nearby forest, accusing him of serial theft.
