HYDERABAD: The Congress has announced huge promises in Telangana ahead of the state assembly elections. The party will release its election manifesto with 38 promises today. Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge will release the manifesto at Gandhi Bhavan.

The main promise in the election manifesto is the Indiramma gift scheme through which Rs 1 lakh and 10 grams of gold will be given to young women who are going to get married. A Vidya Bharosa card worth Rs 5 lakhs for all college students, free internet for all students, electric scooters for all female students over the age of 18, and free electricity for agriculture for 24 hours are among the other promises made. If people belonging to SC/ST sections have land in the state, they will be given up to Rs.6 lakh for building a house. The government will provide houses to the landless under the Indiramma scheme.


The Congress also promised that it would make appointments to two lakh vacant government posts and announce the OBC census (caste census) soon after coming to power. The party also promised more funding for 10 new minority welfare boards. The Congress is hoping to make a huge advancement in Telangana this time.
