THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The police have been directed to file a case in connection with the Youth Congress organizational election in which fake identity cards were made. The museum police will file a case on the complaints. It is reported that Chief Electoral Officer Sanjay Kaul's letter has been sent to DGP and City Police Commissioner. The investigation is going on at the police level.
Sanjay Kaul had asked the DGP to investigate the incident. It is reported that the Congress party has also been asked to give an explanation on the matter within three days. The police will register an FIR and start an investigation. Sanjay Kaul told a leading media that further steps will be taken after receiving the inquiry report and that he has informed the Central Election Commission.
Meanwhile, CPM State Secretary MV Govindan has said that the election commission should seriously intervene in the incident where fake identity cards were made in connection with Youth Congress organizational elections. He alleged in a press conference in Thiruvananthapuram that this could be a move to cast false votes widely in the upcoming general elections.
"If the Youth Congress made so many cards for the organizational election, how many lakh ID cards will be made for the upcoming parliamentary elections? Make an ID card from a special app, vote with it. All the information about this is out. This Youth Congress model created as part of the parliamentary elections is creating anxiety among the people. An investigation should be conducted in this regard as it shows that anyone can make an ID card", he said.
He also accused Kanugolu of being behind the attempt to subvert the upcoming general elections.
