PATHANAMTHITTA: KSRTC has decided to operate AC Volvo buses on the Pathanamthitta-Coimbatore route as an alternative to the private bus 'Robin', which resumed service today after a long legal battle. The Volvo AC will be travelling from Pathanamthitta to Coimbatore via Erattupetta. Earlier, KSRTC had approached the High Court against some sections of the All India Tourist Permit Rules.
The Volvo AC bus, which will start service from Pathanamthitta at 4.30 am, will go via Ranni, Erumely, Kanjirappally, Erattupetta, Thodupuzha, Muvattupuzha, Angamaly, Thrissur, Vadakkencherry and Palakkad. In its return service, the bus will leave Coimbatore to Pathanamthitta at 4.30 pm. It is reported that the bus will start service from tomorrow.
Earlier today, locals and travellers had questioned the Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) officials after the MVD continuously stopped the bus that started from Pathanamthitta at 5 am today. The officials, who stumbled in front of people's questions, were seen in stoic silence. With this, locals and passengers booed at the officials. Soon, a huge crowd from outside also joined them. The bus was stopped by the MVD officials several times throughout its journey in the name of inspections.
