THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: After Kerala's MVD fined 'Robin' bus, which resumed service on the back of a court order, has been fined in Tamil Nadu as well. The Tamil Nadu authorities at the Chavadi checkpost in Coimbatore imposed a fine of Rs 70410.

A fine of Rs 30000 was imposed in total from four places in Kerala. The bus, which started its journey from the private bus stand in Pathanamthitta at 5 am on Saturday, was stopped along the way by MVD officials for inspection. At Pathanamthitta, within 200 meters of departure, the bus was stopped and the officials ordered to pay a fine of Rs 7500 and later released the bus. The fine was for violation of the permit. The bus continued its journey and was stopped at Pala and Angamali by Pudukkad officials and checked.

According to MVD officials, the fine was levied for running a bus with a contract garage permit as a stage garage.

Meanwhile, KSRTC has decided to run AC Volvo buses as an alternative to Robin buses. KSRTC has decided to run service from Pathanamthitta to Coimbatore via Eratupetta. Earlier, KSRTC had approached the High Court against certain sections of the All India Tourist Permit Rules, mainly against Robin Buss. The service starts from Pathanamthitta at 4.30 am and goes via Ranni, Erumeli, Kanjirapalli, Eratupetta, Thodupuzha, Muvattupuzha, Angamaly, Thrissur, Vadakancherry and Palakkad. The return trip is at 4.30 in the evening from Coimbatore. It is reported that the service will start from tomorrow itself.
