CHENGANNUR: In a conflict related to the eviction of street vendors, a vendor poured boiling milk on municipal councillors and employees. The milk was poured by Rakhi Dileep , daughter of Prasanna of Mozhiyattu in Thittamel, who does business on the footpath in front of the railway station in Chengannur. Several people were injured in the incident. Health Standing Committee Chairperson T Kumari, councilor Sobha Varghese, Clean City Manager-in-Charge C Nisha, cleaning workers N Muthukutty, B Sura and V Joseph suffered burns.

In addition to municipal officials, hot milk fell on the bodies of policemen and locals. Around 3.30 pm on Friday, a team led by Municipal Corporation Clean City Manager-in-Charge C Nisha started the process to evacuate street vendors on Railway Station Road near Municipal Corporation office. Prasanna and her daughter Rakhi Dileep got into an argument with the employees while evacuating the traders. Meanwhile, Rakhi Dileep took the boiling milk and poured it on the staff.

CPM leaders of street vendors' association reached the spot and stopped the workers. Then a team led by CI AC Vipin intervened and calmed down the scene. Chengannur police registered a case against the vendor in the incident. Later, Prasanna and her daughter Rakhi removed the goods from the roadside.
