THRISSUR: Artist Prof CL Porinjukutty (91) passed away in Dubai on Saturday night after prolonged illness. He died at his son's house in Dubai Gardens. He is a native of Chiranelloor in Thrissur's Kecheri. He was living in Dubai with his son for the past five years. He held many positions like Kerala Lalitakala Academy Ex-Chairman, Vice-Chancellor, Ex-Secretary, Fine Arts College Principal. He is the winner of the 2011 Raja Ravi Varma award.


He was born in 1932 as the son of Louis and Thandamma in Chiranelloor. He secured degree in English Literature and a post-graduate degree in fine arts from Udaipur University. He became an art teacher at Mavelikkara Raja Ravi Varma School in 1956. Later served as Principal in the same school. did Chairman, Porinjukutty's biography 'Chithrakalayile Ekantha Pathikan', written by his sister's son and UAE-based businessman and writer Mahesh Paulose, has been much discussed.
