KOCHI: It has been found that the body kept for study in Goa Medical College is that of a Malayali youth, who went missing two years ago. It was confirmed through the DNA report that the body was that of Jeff John Lewis (27), a native of Kochi Thevara Perumanur. Kochi City Police had found that Jeff was murdered by his friends in Goa. Jeff's murder was revealed in an investigation conducted on the basis of confidential information given by the accused, arrested in another case.

The body found two years ago in the hill near the beach in Goa was kept for study in the medical college. DNA from Jeff's parents was collected and sent for testing. It was tested with the body's DNA and confirmed as Jeff's body.


The police found that Jeff, who went missing in November 2021, was killed in Goa that month itself. All the five accused were arrested in the incident. His mother Gladys Lewis filed a complaint at the Ernakulam South Police Station after her son did not return. The investigation focused on Jeff's friends. After examining his last phone calls, the investigation reached to Anil Chacko, a native of Wayanad. Anil Chacko was taken into custody and interrogated continuously. The accused confessed to the crime in the end.

Four other accomplices were arrested later. Anil and Jeff were involved in drug trafficking. The reason for the murder was the enmity over Jeff leaking to the police about Anil trafficking drugs. The police arrested the accused in an investigation based on clues after two years.
