PALAKKAD: After the Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) stopped it for the second day in Kerala, the ‘Robin’ bus was also stopped in Tamil Nadu. Tamil Nadu RTO stopped the bus that crossed the Walayar border. It is reported that the bus was stopped to check its records. The bus was directed to shift to Gandhipuram central RTO office.
The MVD officials stopped the Robin bus which was plying from Pathanamthitta to Coimbatore at Karimkunnam near Thodupuzha on Sunday. The bus was fined Rs 7500 for permit violation. The bus was later released after 10 minutes when the locals protested.
The Tamil Nadu Motor Vehicle Department had yesterday collected Rs 70,410 at the Chavadi check post near Walayar, including Rs 32,000 Tamil Nadu tax of Rs 800 each for 40 seats and Rs 32,000 fine for non-payment in advance.
The MVD officials stopped Baby Girish's bus named Robin at Pala Edamaruku Para and fined it at four places. The Kerala Motor Vehicle Department imposed a fine of Rs 7,500 and Rs 37,500 on five places for violating the permit against the bus which had got an All India Permit as per the Central Act.
