THRISSUR: District child welfare officer KA Bindu has been suspended from service for allegedly holding prayers in a government office to expell 'negative energy'. The order in this regard came out on Sunday. The officer's explanation was that a minute's prayer was offered after office hours at the request of the clerical student in the office. But when the information about praying during the office came out in the social media, there was a controversy and Minister Veena George ordered an investigation.

At the same time, there is a strong allegation that the incident that took place two months ago was deliberately spread on social media. There has also been strong resentment in the department against harsh punishments such as suspension for prayer. Bindu is an awardee of the state government and central government for outstanding service. As soon as the incident came to light, the district collector ordered an investigation. In this regard, the Additional Director issued the suspension order while the sub-collector was to take statements from the employees and give a report to the collector.
