KANNUR: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said the opposition are in better senses now in the black flag protest. The chief minister said that he did not see anyone jumping in front of their vehicles with the flags today. He said this while talking at the Nava Kerala Sadas in Kannur.
‘Not only the Nava Kerala Sadas will be boycotted, they said that will face us on the streets. Had repeatedly said to withdraw from that stand. Requested through a press conference today also. They are in better senses now.
Did not see anyone jumping in front of our vehicles with a flag today. It is good that if it was part of the direction given by the leader. Wisdom is a good thing, even if it comes late, the chief minister said.
The announcements should be understood by the people themselves. A leader announced to face us on the streets. Who should be confronted on the street, not us? Is it the people who come to the event? Are you saying that will face millions of people in the streets?
Another leader said black flags will be shown throughout the journey till the capital city. That is another desire. However, a reconsideration of all that is good,' said the chief minister.
A major clash broke out in Kannur soon after black flags were shown by Youth Congress activists towards the chief minister. The Youth Congress activists showed black flag towards the special bus for Nava Kerala Sadas near Pazhayangadi Police Station in Kalliasseri constituency. After this, the CPM workers present there thrashed the youth congress workers. Seven Youth Congress workers including youth congress district vice president Mahitha Mohan were injured.
The chief minister described the attack on Youth Congress workers as an exemplary rescue operation by DYFI. They tried to save the lives of Youth Congress workers. Pinarayi Vijayan also said that exemplary work should be continued.
If you see someone jumping in front of a train, we try to push them away. The chief minister also clarified that it should not be taken in a different way. Meantime, a case of attempted murder has been registered against the DYFI activists for brutally beating up the Youth Congress activists.
