IDUKKI: Mariyakutty, a native of Adimali, has filed a defamation case against 'Deshabimani' over fake news. The defamation case was filed in Adimali First Class Judicial Magistrate Court. The CPM mouthpiece had reported that Mariyakutty, who protested against not getting welfare pension, has assets of lakhs and her daughter is abroad. Later the daily expressed regret for giving wrong news. But Mariyakutty has dismissed this.
Through the defamation case, Mariyakutty has demanded compensation and punishment for those who spread false propaganda. Ten people have been named as accused in the case. The opposing parties are Deshabhimani Chief Editor and News Editor. Maryakutty clarified that she will not back down from the action.
After the Desabhimani news, there was a massive cyber attack against Mariyakutty. "CPM newspaper insulted me and my family. They ruined my life. They should compensate for this. My family and I are threatened.", she said.
"There is no point in apologizing for lying in the newspaper. Even those who came to help backed off. CPM members should respond to this after the news spread. They said I have acres of land. Now let them give me that land, at least one acre' - Mariyakutty added.
