KOCHI: CPO MA Arya of Kochi City Women's Police Station has been inundated with an outpouring of support and congratulations following a heartwarming act captured in a viral video. The clip, filmed by SHO Annie Siva, showcases Arya's selfless gesture of breastfeeding a four-month-old baby girl suffering from heart disease at Ernakulam General Hospital.
Overwhelmed by the response, Arya expressed her emotions, tearfully recounting the moment she returned home to her nine-month-old daughter, Sivatheertha, and felt a profound connection to the infant she had nursed at the hospital.
The widespread acclaim and flood of calls from relatives, friends, and locals have deeply moved Arya, her husband Pradeep, a welder, and her mother. She attributes the video's impact to the raw emotion captured by SHO Annie Siva, who had no inkling of the viral sensation it would become.
Arya, who resumed duty two months ago post her maternity leave, reflected on her training experiences in 2017 at Adoor and Vaikkom. Educated at Deva Matha College, Kumilangad, Arya juggles her responsibilities as a mother of a four-year-old son named Sivathejas.
Confirming the baby's improved health, authorities disclosed that, per the Child Welfare Committee's directives, the infant has been shifted to Nirmala Sishu Bhavan on SRM Road, Ernakulam, where she is reported to be in good health alongside her siblings.
Commending Arya's exemplary display of empathy towards the ailing child, City Police Commissioner A. Akbar praised the entire police force for their involvement and support.
Expressing her sentiments amidst the whirlwind of attention, Arya summed up her feelings, stating, "Everything seems like a dream. Feeling so happy."
