KOCHI: CUSAT VC P G Sankaran said there was a flaw in the organization of the music concert of Kochi University of Science and Technology (CUSAT). A flaw has happened in permitting the students to enter the auditorium, on time. The VC also responded to the media that an unexpected crowd had come to watch the music concert.
Ministers P Rajeev and R Bindu announced that a comprehensive inquiry will be conducted into the accident. The police inspected the auditorium where the accident occurred. CUSAT appointed a three-member committee to investigate the incident. A large crowd had gathered outside to watch the event. According to the report of the syndicate sub-committee appointed by the VC, the cause of the accident was that everyone tried to enter when the programme was about to start.
The accident that shook the state happened the other day. Four including three students died in the accident and two of the dead students were girls. 72 people were injured in the accident. Three of them are in serious condition. The dead are Athul Thamby (23), son of Thampi in Koothattukulam Kizhakombu Kochupara, Anne Rifta (20), daughter of Roy George Kutti in North Paravur Gothuruthu Kurumbathuruthu Konath, Sara Thomas from Tamarassery in Kozhikode and Alvin Joseph from Palakkad Mundur. Alvin is not a student. Lilly is Athul Thamby mother and brother is Ajin Thamby. Ann Rifta's mother is Sindhu and brother is Rithul.
