KOZHIKODE: The Chief Minister and ministers paid their final respects to Sara Thomas, who passed away in an accident at Kochi University of Science and Technology (CUSAT). When the Alphonsa School in Thamarassery opened for public viewing, the Chief Minister also attended. Sarah Thomas was a second-year student at CUSAT.
Alvin Joseph, from Palakkad Mundur, also lost his life in the accident. His body has been kept at his home in Palakkad Mundur for public homage. Alvin wasn't a student.
Athul Thambi (23), son of Thambi from Koothattukulam Kizhakompi Kochupara and Anne Rifta (20), daughter of Roy George Kuti at North Paravur Gothuruth Kurumbathuruth Konath, were also among those who lost their lives. Athul Thambi was a second-year Civil Engineering student, while Ann Rifta was a second-year Electrical Engineering student. Unfortunately, all four had passed away by the time they arrived at the hospital.
Several individuals sustained injuries in the accident and are currently receiving medical treatment. Two of them are reported to be in critical condition. The tragedy occurred when, just before the program was about to begin, people, including those outside, rushed into the open-air auditorium.
