KOCHI: A three-member sub-committee of the syndicate launched an inquiry into the CUSAT disaster. The committee chaired by CSE Senior Fellow KK Krishnakumar took the statements of 15 people. The report is to be submitted within three days.

Other members of the sub-committee are Dr Shashi Gopalan (Professor, Department of Mathematics) and Dr VJ Lally (Associate Professor, College of Engineering).

Police continue to take statements in CUSAT tragedy. Investigation team head Thrikkakara Assistant Commissioner PV Baby said that the statement collection of the vice-chancellor and registrar would be completed soon. The report of the preliminary investigation, which is directly conducted by the Higher Education Department under the leadership of Director of Technical Education Dr MS Rajasree, will soon be forwarded to Higher Education Minister R Bindu and the Department Secretary.

Minister R Bindu informed that the students Gitanjali and Shaba who were being treated at Aster Medical after being injured in the accident at CUSAT have survived the accident. The children have been shifted from the ICU to the room. The minister thanked the doctors, paramedical staff and the hospital for providing expert treatment.
