THRISSUR: SFI wins the Chairmanship position at Kerala Varma College. SFI candidate Anirudh won by three votes in the recount conducted as per the order of the High Court. KSU's Srikuttan lost by three votes. The votes were re-counted as per the instructions of the High Court following the petition given by Srikuttan.
KSU had raised the allegation that the frequent power failure during the first vote counting was part of an election sabotage. Keeping this in mind, the counting of votes was held today in the principal's chamber, which has inverter facilities. The counting of votes has been recorded on video.
Candidates of SFI, KSU, ABVP and AISF had contested for the post of chairman. Congress, Youth Congress and KSU had widely protested alleging election sabotage. KSU state president Aloysius Xavier's hunger strike had also created a huge controversy.
The High Court had quashed the decision declaring the SFI chairman candidate as the winner in Kerala Verma College and ordered a recount. The recounting was based on this.
