KALPETTA: Many including children were injured when a wild elephant attacked a bus carrying Ayyappa devotees. The incident happened at Kalloor in Wayanad. The bus from Karnataka while returning from Sabarimala after darshan happened to come before the elephant at Kalloor 67. The incident happened Monday morning at 5 am. The front portion of the bus was damaged in the attack. Many including children were injured. No one was seriously injured.
Meantime, two people were killed after hit by a vehicle of Sabarimala pilgrims at Vazhayila near Peroorkada. Haridas, a resident of Vazhayila, who runs a bakery, and his friend Vijayan are the two killed in the accident. The incident happened when the two were out for a morning walk.
As soon as the incident happened in the morning, the locals and the police rushed to the spot and carried out the rescue operations and took the car passengers to the hospital.
The car was carrying Ayyappa devotees from Andhra Pradesh and the accident happened while they were returning from Sabarimala. The car was proceeding towards Nedumangad. No one saw Haridasan and Vijayan falling into a ditch after mowed down by the car. The two were seen only late in the morning. By the time they were taken to the hospital, the two had lost their lives.
