NEW DELHI: There are reports of clashes repeating in Manipur. Security forces said that 13 people were killed in an attack that happened on Monday. A gunfight took place between the two groups in Leithu village near Saibol in Tengnoupal district.
The camp of the security forces is 10 km away from the place where the attack took place. Officials informed that 13 dead bodies were found during the search conducted by the force. At the same time, the officials said that no weapons were found near the dead bodies. Army sources clarified that the deceased were not from Leithu region but might have come from elsewhere. The names of the dead have not been released by the police or security forces. Police said that they will conduct an investigation into the incident.
In Manipur, the communal tension between Meitei and Kuki communities has been raging since May 3. 182 people have been killed and many have been left homeless in the violence. The ban on mobile internet services in the state was lifted on Sunday after seven months.
