THRISSUR: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that the complaint of non-implementation of projects as part of LIFE Mission is strange and about 4 lakh houses have been built. Chief Minister was inaugurating the Wadakkancherry Constituency Navakerala Sadas. The plan to build and provide houses has been thrown into controversy by some. The then Congress MLA took the lead in trying to get the CBI involved in the case with the help of the central government. That skeleton-like monument is still lying there. The construction of that flat stopped halfway through.

Those who created that situation are the same ones campaigning that houses are not being provided through LIFE Mission. A few houses are receiving central assistance under the LIFE Mission. The Center provides assistance of Rs 72,000 in rural areas and Rs 1,50,000 in urban areas but the state allows 4 lakhs to each house. LIFE Mission was started by aggregating housing projects. It also includes the Centre's scheme. The amount in addition to their amount is paid by the state. It is suggested that the houses which are paid by the central government should put up the board provided by them. The state government has not placed any advertisements in nearly four lakh households. It questions their self-esteem. The Center has said that if this is not done, the money will not be given. UDF does not have the position to question it, the Chief Minister said.

Xavier Chittilappilly MLA presided. Ministers K Rajan, Antony Raju and Veena George spoke. District Women and Child Development Officer P Meera who was the Organizing Committee Convener said the welcome speech and Wadakkancherry Municipal Corporation Chairman PN Surendran gave the vote of thanks.
