THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Group A within the Congress party is expressing frustration after their plea to reinstate suspended leaders was left unaddressed by the party's leadership. Former DCC (District Congress Committee) members and overseas Congress leaders including Saji Chacko, Babu George, MA Latif, Siddique Hasan, Jopachan Thekkekutt and Punnakal Muhammadali remain under suspension with no indication of their return.
The issue began when Group A submitted a letter to the KPCC (Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee) chairman in October requesting reinstatement. However, the party's response highlighted that the initial letter lacked expressions of regret from the suspended members. Subsequently, four out of five members complied by sending individual letters with expressions of regret, except for MA Latif who provided an explanation but refrained from expressing regret. No definitive response was received from the party leadership despite the partial compliance.
The discontent within Group A is palpable, with leaders warning of potential open protests in districts if their grievances continue to be ignored. Their primary complaint revolves around feeling neglected during constituency reorganization citing instances such as the exclusion of certain names, including Aryadan Shaukath, from the list of leaders in Malappuram. Allegations also surfaced concerning opposition leader VD Satheesan allegedly withholding a list of 43 individuals, speculated to be in favor of Thiruvanjoor Radhakrishnan, who previously distanced himself from Group A.
