THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: More information has surfaced in the suicide of Shehna, a young female doctor of medical college. Her relatives said that she took the drastic step after the groom’s family demanded a huge dowry. Her family said that they demanded 150 sovereigns, 15 acres of land and a BMW as dowry. They had also informed that the marriage will not take place if they don’t get what they demanded.

Considering Shehna's love towards him, the family had agreed to give 50 sovereigns, property worth 50 lakhs and a car. Although they promised to give so much, the groom’s family was not ready for the marriage. They withdrew from the marriage and this devastated Shehna.

Shehna's suicide note also validated the relatives' allegations. 'Vapa has gone, I am left alone, I don’t have anyone to pay a huge amount as dowry. Love has no price on this earth. Everything is for money,' mentioned her suicide note recovered from the room. The police will probe the allegations of the relatives as part of the investigation. Shehna's mobile phone will also be subjected for an examination.
