HYDERABAD: The Revanth Reddy government kept its promise to the people of Telangana on the very same day it took oath in Hyderabad. After being sworn in as Chief Minister, A Revanth Reddy signed an order to implement six promises made by the Congress and an order to provide employment to a differently-abled woman named Rajini. Before the election, the Congress had promised that it would provide a job to Rajini.

The first Congress government in the state took oath at 1 pm yesterday at the Lal Bahadur Shastri Stadium in Hyderabad. A 12-member cabinet took office with Revanth Reddy as Chief Minister. Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan administered the oath of office at a public event attended by thousands of people.

The swearing-in was attended by AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, K. C. Venugopal, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and other top Congress leaders.

Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu also took oath as the Deputy CM of the state that was formed in the year 2014. Governor Soundarajan also administered the oath of office to Gaddam Prasad Kumar as the Speaker of the Telangana Legislative Assembly.

Revanth Reddy is the first Congress Chief Minister of Telangana. The Congress came to power by ousting the BRS government led by K Chandrashekar Rao, which had been ruling the state since 2014. Congress won 65 out of 119 seats. Revanth Reddy, nicknamed Tiger Revanth by his followers, was the one who led the party to victory.

CM's residence renamed
Pragathi Bhavan, the Chief Minister's residence in Hyderabad, was renamed BR Ambedkar Praja Bhavan even before the swearing-in ceremony. Iron barricades in front of the Chief Minister's office were also removed. Earlier during the campaign, Revanth Reddy had said that he would remove it after his party came to power.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the Telangana's new CM and assured of all possible support to the state. "Congratulations to Revanth Reddy Garu on taking oath as the Chief Minister of Telangana. I assure all possible support to further the progress of the state and the welfare of its citizens," PM Modi said on X.
