KOZHIKODE: Doctor fell between the train and the platform and met a tragic end while trying to board a moving train. Kannur Regional Public Health Lab Consultant Dr. M. Sujatha (54), a native of Kovoor Palazhi MLA Road Makanancherithazam is the one who met with the tragic fate.
The incident happened around 10:15 am today. When she reached the station to go to Kannur, the Ernakulam-Kannur Intercity Express which she was supposed to board had already started moving. Seeing this, she tried to run and board the train but was stopped by the RPF officer. However, she tried to board the train again when the train slowed down.
Passengers and RPF officials tried to grab the woman who was about to fall after losing her control, but by then she had fallen between the platform and the train. She was immediately taken out and taken to the Medical College Hospital but could not be saved. Postmortem was conducted at the Kozhikode Medical College Hospital.
Sujatha, who was a senior medical officer at the RPH lab in Kozhikode Beach Hospital campus, shifted to Kannur last June. She is the daughter of Manalaya Rugmini Kovilamma and late V Janardhanen Eradi. Husband: PT Sasidharan (Scientist, NIELIT, Kozhikode). Children: Jayashankar (Software Engineer, Bengaluru), Jayakrishnan (Engineering Student, Sweden). Brother: Dr M Suresh (IIT, Chennai). Burial tomorrow at 3 pm at Mankave crematorium.
