KOCHI: The Kerala High Court has issued a notice to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and several others including his daughter Veena, in response to a plea alleging payment to her company for services not rendered. The court's directive for a vigilance investigation into the matter has sparked controversy and concern.
During a press conference at the Nava Kerala Sadas, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan addressed the issue urging calm among the media and downplaying concerns. He emphasized that the government stands firm and urged against unnecessary worry.
The petition naming 12 people including Vijayan alleges financial fraud regarding services provided by the Chief Minister's daughter's company. Additionally, the Center's lack of support for Kerala has been criticized with concerns raised about actions that might disrupt the state's affairs.
Responding to queries about the Governor seeking an explanation based on a complaint, Vijayan clarified that the government is not obligated to respond to every complaint forwarded by the Governor. He highlighted the Governor's role stating that explanations are required only on matters within the Governor's direct knowledge dismissing the practice of forwarding complaints indiscriminately.
