KANNUR: In the 17th year of her selfless mission aiding the sick and physically challenged Shobhana, originally from Koovode, Thaliparambu has continued her dedicated service since her sister-in-law, Dr Parvathy, a college teacher died to cancer in 2006.
Abandoning her teaching profession and her own abacus training center, Shobhana ventured into this noble cause spurred by the memory of her brother's wife. Bank officer C. Vijayan has been a key supporter aiding her in forming the 'Sanjeevani Santhvanaveedu' trust to facilitate her work.
Embarking at 8:30 AM daily, Shobhana travels around 150 kilometers reaching out to 25 to 30 patients in a day before returning home at 9 PM. Her meticulous schedule supported by a team of doctors, nurses, physiotherapists and Kannur Medical College nursing students ensures comprehensive care for those in need.
Shobhana places donation boxes in local stores to gather support for her cause. She provides counselling and support to those contemplating ending their suffering, guiding them back to a hopeful life. She plans to arrange a reunion for those she has aided intending to gift them tokens of joy and bid them farewell with happiness.
