MUMBAI: The people of Kerala were on their toes waiting for the return of the kidnapped child from Kollam just weeks back. The situation was tense and gave a sneak peek into the underbelly of such crimes running rampant in the state. Now, another kidnapping episode from Maharashtra is the point of discussion all over the country.

In need of money from his father, a 20-year-old teen staged his kidnapping to get ransom money from his parents. The incident took place in the Palghar district of Maharashtra. On December 7th, the father dialled Waliv police station complaining about his son missing.

The family hails from Fatherwadi in Palghar Wasai. The father informed the police that his son left home that day and did not return. Then on December 8, the police registered a missing case.

While investigating the incident, the father received a call from his son. The son informed his father that he had been kidnapped and held by three men. He also informed his father about the urgent need for Rs 30,000 to set him free.

Meanwhile, the son also sent the QR code to the father to send the money. Investigation was conducted to find the young man by dividing into four police teams. With cyber help, police tracked the young teen's location in Vasai Phata.

During the subsequent interrogation, the son confessed to the crime. The youth testified that he staged the hit-and-run drama for his father’s denial to hand over money. The police said that a 20-year-old man has been taken into custody and further investigation is underway.
