THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Black flag protest by SFI workers against Governor Arif Mohammad Khan. SFI activists showed black flag to the Governor yesterday when he came to participate in a program held at a private hotel near Thiruvananthapuram City Police Commissioner's office in Vazhuthacaud.
The protest alleged that the governor was trying to turn universities into Sangh Parivar centres. SFI state secretary PM Arsho said that the protest will intensify if the Governor does not change his stance. The police arrested and removed the protestors. 20 people including SFI district president MK Nandan and secretary SK Adarsh were arrested. They were shifted to AR Police Camp in Nandavanam and later released on bail.
There was a warning from the Intelligence Service that there would be a SFI protest against the Governor. SFI workers were camping in the area before the arrival of the governor but the police was not ready to move them. Allegations have been raised that the police were lax in providing security to the governor despite receiving warning.
