THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala's State Election Commissioner A Shahjahan confirms readiness for the imminent by-elections scheduled tomorrow in 33 local wards across the state. The vote count is set to commence from 10 am on Wednesday at multiple centers.
These by-elections span 1 district panchayat, 5 block panchayats, 24 gram panchayats and 3 municipality wards spread across 14 districts. A notable total of 114 candidates are contesting for voters' favour among whom 47 are women candidates.
The final voter roster for these wards lists a total of 143,345 eligible voters comprising 67,764 males and 75,581 females.
To facilitate the voting process, 192 polling booths have been established. Sectoral officers are tasked with delivering the necessary polling materials to these booths before noon today. Polling officials must then collect these materials for the smooth conduct of the polls. A mock poll is slated for 6 AM on the polling day with voting results available on www.sec.kerala.gov.in TREND.
