THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: 21 railway stations in Kerala have received Eat Right Station approval from FSSAI. 21 stations in Kerala have been approved under the Eat Right Railway Station project, one of the initiatives under the Eat Right India Movement led by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) to ensure safe food for passengers. 114 railway stations in the country have received the Eat Right Station Certificate. Kerala has received the most recognition with 21 stations.
Parappanangadi, Chalakudy, Thalassery, Kannur, Palakkad Junction, Chengannur, Shornur Junction, Tirur, Vadakara, Changanassery, Alappuzha, Varkala, Karunagappally, Angamaly, Aluva, Thiruvalla, Kottayam, Kozhikode, Thrissur, Thiruvananthapuram Central and Kollam railway stations have received the Eat Right approval.
Railway Station Platform Retail Outlet (Static), Retail cum Catering Establishment (Static), Food Plaza/ Food Courts/ Restaurants (Static), Petty Food Vendors/ Stalls/ Kiosks (Static/ Mobile), and Station Yard Warehouse, Base Kitchen etc. falls under this scheme. FSSAI issues the certificate after ensuring that food is cooked in accordance with food safety and hygiene standards and that safety standards are followed while serving food to passengers at all these places.
All the food entrepreneurs in the station complex must have obtained FSSAI registration/license to be certified under this scheme. In addition to this, food handlers in establishments at the station must have obtained FSSAIās FoSTaC-trained certificate.
