TEL AVIV: Following Hamas's warning that not a single remaining hostage would make it out alive if their demands are not met, Israel launched a massive bombardment of Gaza. 23 people were killed in the Maghazi refugee camp in central Gaza. 300 people were killed across Gaza in 24 hours. There are 137 hostages in Gaza. With this, the death toll in Gaza has crossed 18,000. Hamas demands that there be negotiations including the release of Palestinians in Israeli prisons. However, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claimed that the end of Hamas has begun and many terrorists have surrendered to the army.
Prospect of ceasefire fading
Qatar, the mediator, has said that the chances of a ceasefire are fading in the Israel-Gaza war. A resolution calling for a ceasefire in Gaza may be put to a vote in the UN General Assembly today. The US had vetoed the resolution that was presented to the Security Council last week.
