KOCHI: Actor Dileep filed a reply affidavit in the High Court saying that the allegations levelled by the government in the petition seeking cancellation of his bail are baseless and have been rejected by the court many times before. Dileep was responding to the government’s petition in the case of assaulting a young actress. The government filed a petition to cancel the bail, alleging that Dileep tried to destroy evidence and influence witnesses in the case.

Dileep in his affidavit points out that 259 prosecution witnesses have already been examined in the trial court and now the investigating officer and the joint director of the forensic lab have to be examined. Dileep also showed apprehension saying that the government’s petition at a time when the investigation officer is about to face trial would bring back more media attention to the case.

“The young actress and the prosecution approached the High Court against me and the trial court judge when the testimony of 80 people was completed. The High Court and later the Supreme Court rejected this petition seeking a change of court. Similar allegations were made by the prosecution when I sought anticipatory bail in the case registered after film director Balachandra Kumar’s revelation in the case of assault on the actress.” Dileep mentioned this in his affidavit.

The main allegation is that witnesses Vipinlal and Jinson were influenced by the prosecution. But they are accused in many cases and have been in jail for a long time. Dileep also alleged that the investigation team is using them to make false allegations. Justice P. Gopinath's bench will hear the plea on 18.
